In order for us to enable push notifications on your mobile app, first we require you to set up a Firebase account and invite Radio.co as a user.

Accessing Firebase

Firstly, go to Firebase.

Make sure you’re signed in to the same account linked to your Google Play Store Console. Then click ‘Go to console’.

Logging into Firebase.

Firebase organises apps into projects. So continue by clicking ‘Create a project’.

Creating a project in Firebase.

Creating Your Firebase Project

Give the project a name, preferably the same name as your mobile app. Tweak the slug if needed (that's the URL used to access your project). Then confirm you're happy with Firebase's terms and conditions and continue.

Naming your Firebase project.

Google Analytics works with Firebase to track performance. But data can be viewed within Firebase, so we recommend disabling Google Analytics and then creating the project.

Firebase will package everything together. Once ready, your project is good to go.

Firebase project setup is ready.

Granting Radio.co Access

In order for your app(s) to send push notifications, you need to grant access to Radio.co. So once your project is open, click the cog icon, then ‘Users and permissions’.

Firebase users and permissions.

In the users and permissions area, select ‘Add member’.

Adding a member to a Firebase project.

In the email field, enter ‘studio@radio.co’. Set the role to ‘Owner’. Confirm by clicking 'Add member'.

Adding <a href="mailto:studio@radio.co" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">studio@radio.co</a> to your Firebase project.

Accepting Confirmation (Radio.co)

Radio.co will then receive a notification confirming a request to be added to your Firebase project. The support team will need to accept and confirm. But if eager, contact the team to ask if everything went through ok at help@radio.co.

Once confirmed and linked to your app(s), push notifications can be sent and managed from Firebase for both Android and iOS devices.
