Google has introduced new developer verification requirements for Android apps.

To keep your app working on Android devices, you’ll need to make sure it’s registered and verified in your Play Console.

⚠️ Important Deadline

Apps that are not registered by September 2026 may no longer be installable on certified Android devices in some countries.

What You Need to Do:

1. Wait for Google’s email

Google will send you an email confirming which of your apps have been automatically registered.

2. Check your apps in Play Console

  • Log in to your Google Play Console

  • Go to the Home page

  • You’ll see a list of your apps with their registration status

  • Look for any apps marked as “not registered”

3. Register any missing apps

For any apps that were not automatically registered:

You should make sure to:

  • Register any apps you still want to distribute on Google Play

  • Register any apps you distribute outside of Google Play (you can do this in the same place)

4. Add signing keys (if required)

If you sign your app outside of Google Play, you may also need to:

  • Add your app signing keys during the verification process

New Apps

  • Any new apps you create going forward will be automatically registered

  • If you reuse an existing package name, you may need to verify ownership of your signing key
