What is a Permission Document?

Because your Alexa Skill will be submitted under Radio.co's Amazon account, we essentially require permission from you to use your stream to provide the service.

This requires you to create a document stating you give permission to Radio.co to use your stream.

Do I need a stream license?

Yes, you do need to be a licensed stream to submit your Alexa Skill to Amazon. However, you do not usually need to provide us with a copy of your license - please do not send us your license as your Permission Document, as this is not the same thing.

Learn more about licensing here if you are unsure.

How do I make my Permission Document?

We've provided a handy template to make this process quick and easy. You can download the template at the link below:

This is a .docx file which can be opened in most word processors, such as Microsoft Word, OpenOffice, Pages or Google Docs.

This is what it looks like when opened:

Everything inside the square brackets should be replaced with your information:

  • Station Logo
  • Station Name
  • Address
  • Listen Link
  • Your Name
  • Your Title
  • Station Name (signature)

Make sure to remove the square brackets, and also adjust the date at the top of the page to todays date.

Common Mistakes

A common mistake when making your policy is to provide your website address or another streaming link. The only link that will be accepted is the one Standard link from your Radio.co Dashboard, in the Listen section of your account:

Another common mistake is submitting a copy of your station's license as the permission document. This doesn't provide us with the proper clearance to use your stream in the Alexa Skill service and so will be rejected.

Okay, I've made my Permission Document. What next?

Your finished document should look something like this:

Make sure to save this in a supported format:

  • .docx
  • .pdf
  • .jpg or .png (when saved as an image)

After you've done that, you can upload the document in the Alexa Skill Builder:
